As of April 7, 2025, the CBR theory exam for the car driver’s license (category B) has been completely renewed:
- The exam consists of 50 questions, plus 2 extra test questions. You answer 52 in total, but only 50 counts for the final result.
- You have 30 minutes to complete the exam. With extra time, individual supervision, or an interpreter, it lasts 45 minutes.
- You pass if you correctly answer at least 44 of the 50 questions.
- The division into the three old sections (hazard perception, knowledge, and insight) has been scrapped. The exam is now one whole, assessing all your knowledge and insight in one part.
- The hazard perception section with static photos has been completely removed. Instead, you now get animation questions: short, silent clips showing realistic traffic situations where you must indicate what is likely to happen or how you would act.

Step 3: Practicing with Animation Questions – How It Works at Nutheorie
As mentioned earlier, the old hazard perception questions have been replaced by animation questions. These simulate realistic traffic situations and ask you to anticipate: what will happen and how will you react?
At Nutheorie, you can practice these questions very effectively:
- Realistic practice questions, our material already includes animation questions similar in style and content to the CBR exam.
- Feedback and explanation, you not only see whether your answers are right or wrong, but also why.
- Practice under time pressure, we replicate the CBR time limits (30 minutes for 50 questions).
- Situation-based learning, Animations help you see consequences of a choice, improving your traffic insight.
The questions that test insight are the ones candidates get wrong most often. That’s why it’s important to practice them well and in our course, we cover them all.
Step 4: Prepare Optimally with a Nutheorie Course
Although practicing on your own is important, we know candidates benefit from a structured learning environment. That’s why Nutheorie offers different options:
